Optimize encoding versatility and future-proof investment with software upgradeability
Operators are challenged to meet the expanding service demands of video subscribers. The ARRIS Quartet multi-channel dual-pass MPEG-2 encoder provides quality, performance, and simplicity of use in a scalable, cost-effective package. Ideally suited for switched digital video, digital simulcast, and channel encoding, the Quartet provides high-density, open-loop encoding using a programmable, DSP-based processing engine supporting simultaneous ASI and IP outputs plus two stereo pair AC-3 per video channel. Embedded cascade multiplexing reduces solution complexity and increases reliability. The Quartet uses analog connectivity and optionally supports SCTE-35 digital program insertions as well as DTMF and Contact Closure cue-trigger detection for advanced VOD ad insertion services.
The software-upgradeable Quartet solution provides low-cost, flexible encoding in a head-end friendly platform with low power and cooling requirements. The Quartet solution is reliable, with SNMP monitoring and a control interface providing redundancy and failover protection. Programmable noise filters enable operators to fine tune the Quartet’s output for maximum bandwidth utilization while still meeting SLA quality and performance targets. Operators minimize CAPEX with the Quartet’s superb price-performance and reduce OPEX through its industry-leading simplicity.
